chicken wings

this recipe comes from my fabulous mother tori.  when i graduated from college, she put together a recipe book of all our favorites.  this one snuck in there, and having never tried it before now, i thought the super bowl would be the perfect place to test it out.  thanks, mom!

ingredients

1 cup honey

1/2 cup soy sauce

2 Tablespoons ketchup

2 Tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

directions

preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.

place 3-4 pounds of washed chicken wings on a foil-lined pan.

combine sauce ingredients and baste the wings.

bake 1 hour, turning occasionally.

note:  you will more than likely have leftover sauce/baste.  if you are like me, you might initially just use the single bowl the sauce is mixed in and dip back and forth with your baster.  if you do so, though, you cannot re-use any leftover sauce since it has touched the raw chicken.  so!  instead, divide the sauce into two bowls, refilling the basting bowl as needed so that you can keep the leftover sauce as a side of dipping sauce when the wings are done.
